Southern Nevada drivers struggling to pass state emissions tests may soon find some financial relief. Smog Free Clark County is hosting a free community event to help local motorists secure up to $975 in repair vouchers to get their older vehicles back on the road safely and legally.
Underwritten by Clark County’s Division of Air Quality—a division of the Department of Environment & Sustainability—the program aims to reduce regional vehicle emissions by helping residents repair high-polluting automobiles.
Who is eligible for the repair vouchers
To qualify for the voucher program, motorists must drive a vehicle with a model year between 1968 and 2010. Additionally, the vehicle must have recently failed an official Nevada emissions test.
What to bring to the event
Residents interested in applying or learning more should come prepared with a few key documents. Attendees will need to present a valid driver’s license, a vehicle registration or title, and the failed emissions test or Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR).
Event details and location
The free public event will take place on Thursday, July 30, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Windmill Library, located at 7060 W. Windmill Ln. in Las Vegas. Representatives from Smog Free Clark County and the Division of Air Quality will be on-site to answer questions and guide drivers through the application process. Spanish-speaking representatives will also be present to assist community members.
Residents who are unable to attend the event in person can find full details on the application process by visiting SmogFreeClarkCounty.com.
