Diana Macias, Human Support Coordinator at Hearts Alive Village, informed that the dog food and supplements distributed at its Pet Resource Day on Friday, June 5 totaled almost three-quarters of a ton. The event at the Dolores Huerta Resource Center served 153 individuals and their pets.

Over 150 people attended the Pet Resource Day presented by Hearts Alive Village at the Dolores Huerta Resource Center on Friday, June 5.
During the event, Hearts Alive Village distributed 920 pounds of dog food and 495 pounds of dog supplements. Five cat trees and four dog gift baskets filled with various pet supplies and items were also raffled off.
“In addition, we scheduled 17 bully breed dogs for our Alexis Project Spay and Neuter Event taking place on June 28, 2026,” Macias informed. “Thanks to the generosity of Linda Faso and her support of this program, we will be able to provide spay and neuter services for 400 pit bull-type dogs through this initiative.”
Hearts Alive Village is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating two low-cost vet clinics, including the Nellis Preventative Care Clinic, an everyday adoption center in Henderson, a cat cafe (currently closed for remodeling), a veterinary forensics program, veterans support programs, and a pet food bank. It started as the dream of 10-year-old Kendall Stevens to open an animal rescue center in 2013, and in 2014 that dream became a reality with the help of her mother. Over 15,000 animals have been rescued since.
